The protagonist of this coup is Best Buy, the largest distributor of technology products across the United States. According to the local newspaper StarTribune, the company would be removing cybersecurity products from Kaspersky Lab from its shelves and from its online store. According to a retailer spokesman, there are “too many unanswered questions” about the Russian security company Kaspersky’s links with the Russian government. Recall that all this scheming conflict began back in May when the US General Services Administration (GSA) made public their suspicions that Kaspersky Lab might be helping the Kremlin get sensitive information from US public institutions. Later, a congressional committee of the United States demanded information to 22 governmental agencies on this same company, before the fear of destruction or espionage of epic dimensions. But the last step, which has given moral standing and justification to this strategic decision of Best Buy was the recommendation – issued by the FBI (Federal Bureau Of Investigation)- that private companies around the country should stop using these tools of cyber protection as an “unacceptable threat to national security”.
