The Meta-owned platform Instagram has recently introduced a Sensitive Content Control feature to its users so that they can reduce seeing Sensitive Content on the platform. Now, it is taking more steps ahead for it.
Instagram Also Show Prompt For Earlier Users
As Instagram’s this feature already has three options to control sensitive content: Standard, More and Less. This “less” option means showing less sensitive content on the platform. According to the official blog post, Instagram will now keep this “less” option as default for new teen users on Instagram who is under 16 years old. While it will also make them review other privacy settings. Also, for the earlier teenage users, it has planned to show a prompt to update their safety and privacy settings. And this prompt will so suggest teens select “less” for their safety. The company’s official statement said, “This will make it more difficult for young people to come across potentially sensitive content or accounts in Search, Explore, Hashtag Pages, Reels, Feed Recommendations and Suggested Accounts.” With all that, Instagram will provide them control over who can reshare their content and remix reels with their reels and who can message or contact them. The platform is already allowing users what content they can see, and how they can manage their time spent on Instagram, and this feature holds the same goal. Besides, in the past, Instagram added many new features regarding the safety of children and teenagers, such as an Amber alert feature for lost children was a big effort from the company. Also, users are not restricted to keeping the less option; they can even select ‘Standard’ or ‘More‘ to see more sensitive content.
